Ace Hardware on Morgan Avenue is hosting a 4th of July BBQ party on Saturday, June 25, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Grills from Weber, Traeger and Big Green Egg will be fired up with grilling demos, giveaways and more.

Book and Cook, an online kids’ cooking series by Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library, Urban Seeds, and Lyles Station Legacy Taste of the Garden begins on Saturday, June 25, and will continue one Saturday a month through November.
Young cooks in grades 3-5 will learn about food and cooking, local food systems, land use and more. All ingredients and basic cooking equipment will be supplied and can be picked up at EVPL on Friday, June 24. Registration is required by June 20 at events.evpl.org/events. If you miss the first class, you may register for a later one. Kids are encouraged to register for more than one class.

Cap & Cork is an upcoming Henderson restaurant in the former Tacoholics and Water Street Café building. The the building will be remodeled and expanded, and will open this fall serving an upscale menu based on local foods.
Cap & Cork will be at 104 Water St., Henderson, Kentucky.

El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant will be replacing El Rio on North Green River Road. El Rio will continue serving as usual until the switch to the new business is ready to happen.

The Hornville Tavern is now serving Sunday brunch beginning at 9 a.m. On the menu are biscuits and gravy, pancakes, egg and meat platters, omelets and drinks including bloody mary or mimosas for $4.50.

It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue will host the Paws and Claws Black and White Pawty fundraiser at Bally’s Evansville casino pavilion. A buffet will contain Caesar salad, pasta with marinara sauce, herb roasted chicken Milano, roasted Italian vegetables, garlic parmesan bread, tiramisu and beverages. There will be a cash bar, auctions, live entertainment and more. Tickets are $50 per person, $90 per couple, or $350 for a table of eight.

Lil’ Tate’s Cupcakes will be hosting a Dough Days of Summer cookie dough bar on Friday night, June 24, before Downtown Newburgh Nights. Assemble your own cup of eggless cookie dough from four flavors with tons of toppings.

The Milk Barn Café will be soon be occupying the former Read St. BBQ building. The former food truck, which served freshly fried “firecakes” doughnuts and coffee, will tentatively open the store on July 4 with an expanded menu.

The Evansville Rescue Mission’s Mission Grounds Coffee Shop will have a grand opening on Saturday, June 25, in conjunction with the June Evansville Farmers Market, which will be spotlighting the Evansville Rescue Mission.
Mission Grounds, the Evansville Rescue Mission’s Thrift Shop and the Evansville Farmers Market will all be at Washington Square Mall, 5001 Washington Ave.
Oasis Dementia Care will host a Longest Day Bake Sale on Tuesday, June 21, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. to benefit the Alzheimers Association. All items will be sold for $1.

The Prime Time Pub and Grill will be opening a second restaurant on North Highway 41 in the former Roca Bar North building. Prime Time’s first restaurant is in Newburgh, and is celebrated for a friendly and casual atmosphere which combines elements of a sports bar and steak house. The restaurant is known for prime rib and steaks, house chips, giant burgers, creative flatbreads, homemade beer cheese, big entree salads, pasta and more. Opening is planned for late summer.
Prime Time Pub and Grill is at 8177 Bell Oaks Drive, Newburgh, Ind. The north location will be at 12301 U.S. 41 North.
The ShrinersFest will happen on Friday, June 24, on Riverside Avenue in Downtown Evansville, from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Enjoy food booths, a beer garden, live entertainment, car show, bike night and much more.
